Screen-free audio stories that teach kids the lost art of boredom.

Backed by neuroscience.
Built for imagination.

Bored isn't a problem.

Car rides. Quiet afternoons. The wait before dinner.

Parents are told to fill these moments with entertainment or education.
But research shows that's backwards.
The "boring" moments are where imagination actually grows.

You already know screens aren't the answer.
But "just be bored" doesn't work either.

wonderbefore gives your child somewhere to go in those in-between moments. We guide them into boredom on purpose, because that's where creativity, emotional processing, and self-connection live.

A place where their mind can wander, wonder, and grow.

A framework for wonder

wonderbefore is built on a framework we call the Four Acts of Imagination.
Each Act develops a different capacity. Together, they guide your child through a full imaginative cycle, building skills that last far beyond the story.

Find your first story

This is what productive boredom sounds like.
New episodes drop weekly.

Each one is about 5 minutes of screen-free storytelling, designed to spark your child's imagination without overstimulating. Perfect for car rides, quiet afternoons, and the in-between moments that used to feel impossible to fill.

Pick one and see where it takes you…

"Scarcity…that frustrating, 'nothing to do' state…is like a hush in the crowd.
Silence.
What whisper voice can begin to be heard?
The child's inner voice.
Stand back. Anything can happen."

— Kim John Payne, Simplicity Parenting

The neuroscience of boredom

This isn't just a nice idea.

Neuroscience research shows that unstructured mental space is essential for creativity, emotional regulation, and self-development. The brain's Default Mode Network, where imagination actually happens, only activates when kids aren't being stimulated.

wonderbefore creates the conditions for that to happen.

Meet the Founder

Hey I'm Ash, founder of wonderbefore
and mom of two.

I've spent nearly 20 years as a professional storyteller, helping Fortune 500 brands find their voice. But this project came from home, not work. I watched my own kids lose access to boredom, and I wanted to build something that could give it back.

Not more content. Not another distraction.
Just stories that create space for their imaginations to breathe.
